Is microcement waterproof in a bathroom?
Yes. Applied as a full system with hydrophobic sealers, microcement creates a continuous, fully tanked, waterproof surface across bathroom walls, floors and showers. With no joints or grout lines, there is nowhere for water to seep in, which is exactly why it suits wet rooms and walk-in showers.
Can you put microcement over bathroom tiles without removing them?
Yes. We apply microcement straight over existing bathroom tiles, marble, plaster or terrazzo using a bonding primer, with no need to rip anything out and no rubble. The old surface just needs to be sound, dry and firmly fixed, which keeps the refurbishment clean and quick.
Can microcement be used in a shower or wet room?
Yes. Microcement is ideal for walk-in showers and wet rooms, including the shower floor, with no tray and no joints. We seal shower floors with a non-slip topcoat — an anti-slip additive over the smooth surface — for safety, and the seamless surface flows straight into the rest of the bathroom for a continuous, spa-like look.
Is a microcement shower floor slippery?
No. We seal microcement shower floors and wet-room bases with a non-slip topcoat — an anti-slip additive worked into the sealer — so they stay safe underfoot when wet whilst still feeling smooth and seamless.
